Chinaman
Breeder: Randall Abernathy
Owner: Tom Garner Kennels
Color: Black and White
Garner's Chinaman was the foundation and prototype for my Pit Bull breeding program. Not only was he conformationally perfect (he is the breed standard for the Sporting Dog Registry), he was tested at Stanford University and found to have oxygen assimilation capabilities (as assessed via VO2 max) equivalent to top Greyhounds.
Testing also revealed that Chinaman possessed an unusually high percentage of fast-twitch muscle and advantageous skeletal and muscle-attachment geometry. These genetically based, scientifically documented advantages, coupled with clearly demonstrated superiority as an athletic performer made Chinaman the ultimate choice for taking Pit Bull evolution to the next level.
The rest is history. In 2 short years (from age 7 to 9) he made a profound mark on our breed as a producer and as a producer of producers. His double-bred son Frisco is the leading producer of all-time.
